A. Bernard & Mary B. Dixon Memorial Scholarship

The A. Bernard & Mary. B. Dixon Memorial Scholarship was created to memorialize the lives and careers of Arthur Bernard (Bun) Dixon and his wife Mary Barbara (nee Gamble, Beckwith) Dixon, who lived in the Gaetz valley and Delburne districts for many years. Both Bun and Mary were involved in community school affairs. Bun being a member of the Gaetz Valley and Delburne School Boards during the 1930’s and 1940’s, and Mary having taught at the Woodlake School during the 1930’s and the Delburne School during the 1940’s and early 1950’s.

For this reason, graduating grade 12 students from the Delburne and Delburne West areas will generally be given priority over other possible applicants. Applicants should realize that the acceptance process will be competitive, so the greater amount of information provided in a concise manner, the better.

Required Documents:

1. Two (2) reference letters (one from a teacher, and one from a community member who you have developed a working relationship with outside of school activities)
2. Working copy of high school detailed academic report
3. A letter of acceptance from an Alberta college or university
4. Essay submission

Note: As per CRA regulations, our Foundation is not at liberty to disburse the awards directly to recipients. Rather, we release the funds directly to qualified post-secondary institutions, which then credits the student’s tuition account. CFCAB will never ask for your banking details.
